Yesterday when I was riding home, a very grungy-
sketchy-awkward guy on a bike pulled up next to me on Howard & 6
th streets. He made
ooo and
ahhh sounds at my bike, and asked questions like, "is that bike expensive?" Normally this is flattering. But when it's a sketchy ass guy on 6
th street, my first thought was, oh my God, he's going to pull a knife and try to steal my bike.
When the light hit green I threw my bike into the hardest gear and pedaled as hard as I could. I raced the next three blocks so that I could break away from him. I literally pedaled until it hurt.
Sketchy-homeless looking man - who knew such a great motivator existed for a little sprint work.
